Get Your Freak On: Missy Elliott to open Riyadh Season 2024

The hip-hop heavyweight will perform at Kingdom Arena.

Riyadh Season 2024 is all set to begin soon. We are buzzing with excitement, as it has just been announced that American rapper Missy Elliott will be coming to the Saudi capital.  

Riyadh Season 2024 will kick off on 12 October, and Missy Elliot will headline the opening ceremony. She’ll join Busta Rhymes and Ciara, who will also perform on stage to inaugurate the event season in Saudi Arabia.

Missy Elliott is a hip-hop powerhouse who has redefined the genre with her rapping and production skills. Born Melissa Arnette Elliott in 1971, she started her career in the 90s as part of the R&B group Sista, where Missy honed her songwriting talents alongside longtime collaborator Timbaland.

After going solo, Missy exploded onto the scene thanks to her unique style and distinctive rapping. Singles like “Get Ur Freak On” and “Work It” became anthems with futuristic sounds and boundary-pushing music videos.

Countless artists, from Beyoncé to Timbaland, credit Missy Elliott as an inspiration. With over 40 million records sold, she’s regarded as the biggest-selling female rapper ever. Despite a hiatus in the late 2000s, Missy returned to the music scene with her 2019 album “Iconology.” That same year, she became the first female rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The opening ceremony of Riyadh Season 2024 will also see Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol battle it out in the ring as part of the IV Crown Showdown. Tickets for the fight and the concerts are available now and start at SAR 100. With big names heading to the capital for Riyadh Season 2024, tickets are expected to sell out fast.
