Everything you need to know about Abu Dhabi Showdown Week
Kicking off on 21 October, the weeklong MMA extravaganza will feature a range of exciting events leading up to UFC 308.
It’s T-minus five days until UFC 308: Topuria Vs Holloway takes over Etihad Arena, and you know what that means — hordes of MMA fans heading to the capital as a packed schedule of citywide events leads up to the big event on Saturday, 26 October. Marking the sixth edition of Abu Dhabi Showdown Week, UFC and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) have confirmed an array of happenings.
The official UFC Open Workouts, featuring a host of UFC 308 athletes, will take place on Wednesday, 23 October, at Yas Mall. Fans will have the opportunity to watch their training techniques up close and show support for their favourite athletes. On Thursday, 24 October, fans will have access to the UUFC 308: Topuria Vs Holloway Press Conference at Etihad Arena, where they will hear from key athletes on the card in the lead-up to the long-awaited event.
The official UFC Ceremonial Weigh-ins are scheduled for Friday, 25 October, this time providing fans a rare opportunity to experience the electrifying face-off. As the athletes step onto the scale at the Etihad Arena, the excitement will build and set the stage for an epic showdown the following day. Fans can further embrace the exhilarating atmosphere of Abu Dhabi Showdown Week through the UFC Fan Experience at Yas Mall from 21 to 27 October and at Yas Bay from 23 to 27 October. Both locations offer Athlete Meet and Greets as well as interactive experiences and UFC activations. These immersive activations are not only free and open to the public but also a must for any UFC fan.
Abu Dhabi Showdown Week is also set to bring a diverse range of nightlife events and parties to the capital along with exclusive culinary offerings and tailored experiences at select gyms. Marking a major milestone in the capital, Abu Dhabi Showdown Week will feature Power Slap’s first-ever international event. POWER SLAP 9: Da Crazy Hawaiian Vs. Dumpling is set for Thursday, 24 October at Space 42 Arena in Al Raha Beach.
The excitement continues with two standout combat sports events. On Tuesday, 22 October, UAE Warriors will deliver an action-packed lineup of top regional talent at ADNEC Centre. Then, on Friday, 25 October the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship (ADXC) returns for its fifth edition at Mubadala Arena, showcasing elite submission grappling.
Abu Dhabi Showdown Week also sees American comedian Matt Rife bringing his Problemattic World Tour to the Etihad Arena on 22 October. Abu Dhabi Showdown Week will also offer a pair of music concerts from 1990s favourites Backstreet Boys at Etihad Arena on Wednesday, 23 October and Take That at Etihad Park on Friday, 25 October.
