R&B megastar Akon has joined the World Tennis League concerts

The concert takes place at Etihad Arena on 21 December.


Abu Dhabi, the stars are coming out. World Tennis League has announced that the R&B superstar Akon will perform during the World Tennis League concerts at Etihad Arena. Taking place on 21 December, here’s what we know about the event.

For the uninitiated, the World Tennis League combines the world’s top professional tennis players in an engaging team-driven format alongside electrifying concerts, culminating in what has been dubbed ‘The Greatest Show on Court’. Akon will headline a special R&B evening concert, which will close out a day of play from some of the world’s top tennis talent. The concerts also include Anastacia and Bryan Adams.

Akon is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Missouri, United States. He is famous for his blend of R&B, hip-hop, and pop music. His hit songs include “I Wanna Love You,” “Lonely,” “Right Now (Na Na Na),” and “Smack That.” Over his career, he has won American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and World Music Awards and sold ver 35 million albums worldwide.

Born Aliaune Thiam, Akon has collaborated with top artists such as Eminem, Lady Gaga, and David Guetta. Beyond his music, Akon is a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist. He founded Akon Lighting Africa, an initiative that provides solar power to millions of Africans. Additionally, he has been involved in plans to develop “Akon City,” a futuristic, sustainable city in Senegal.
