The Lila Taqueria team expands with the opening of Lila Molino in Al Quoz

The all-day Mexican restaurant is now open at Alserkal Avenue.

Mexican food lovers, we have some tasty news. The team behind the Lila Taqueria is expanding in Dubai. Building upon the success of Lila Taqueria, which first opened its doors in Jumeirah 3 in 2022, Lila Molino, which is now open in Warehouse 18 on Alserkal Avenue, uses traditional culinary techniques to bring authentic Mexican experiences to Dubai.

Lila Molino is an all-day Mexican restaurant. The menu will include tortillas, tostadas and taqueria. The team pride themselves on the freshly sourced ingredients and authentic flavours. The heirloom corn comes from farmers in Mexico and is ground daily into masa to create perfect hand-pressed tortillas, resulting in a distinguished flavour profile. The space includes a retail section offering foundational corn products like tortillas, chips, house-made salsas, Mexican artisanal crafts and locally grown produce. Plus, a café serving freshly ground coffee. 

Spanning two floors, the decor at Lila Molino features custom wall murals designed by female Mexican artists, as well as vibrant shades of terracotta and sky blue, lush greenery and a seating capacity of 75. This is not the first time that Lila Taqueria has headed to Alserkal Avenue. During the Qouz Arts Festival, they opened a popular pop-up at the site. 

The menu features Mexican breakfast dishes like the Eggs Benedict Lila Style, Mango & Passion Fruit Granola Bowls and Sweet Corn and Blueberry Pancakes. After 12pm, the lunch menu offers Green Enchiladas Suizas, Mixed Chopped Salad A La Mexicana and Mole Enchiladas Poblano. The sweet treats include Coconut Lime Tres Leches and the Mixed Citrus Flan De Queso.

Shaw Lash is at the helm of the Lila brand. She was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She studied under Dianne Kennedy and learned about the history of Mexican cuisine. Over her career, she has specialised in Mexican food and opened restaurants across Chicago and New York. 

In 2023, she opened her first restaurant in the UAE – Lila Taqueria on Jumeirah Beach Road. The concept describes itself as the Middle East’s first wood-fired taqueria, and is a homage to Mexican flavours that specialises in tacos. The team make more than 800 tacos a day, and the options include a Chipotle Honey Grilled Shrimp, Skirt Steak Costra Style and Smoky Cabbage. Plus, the Spit Roasted Lamb Tacos with street-style marinated lamb shoulder are so popular, they are usually sold out by 3pm. 

Lila Molino is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 6pm.
