Neom Beach Games 2024 brings sport to Saudi’s gigaproject

The superb sports tournament kicks off on 3 November.

Life’s a beach at Neom. Saudi Arabia’s gigaproject has announced that it will host the Neom Beach Games from 3 to 23 November. The third edition of the tournament welcomes athletes from more than 25 countries, as they take part in sporting challenges.

Neom Beach Games 2024 includes six exciting sporting events that showcase the beauty of the gigaproject. Highlights include a beach soccer tournament and desert mountain bike racing. Olympic gold medallists Cassandre Beaugrand and Alex Yee (triathletes), Worthy De Jong (3×3 basketball player), and Veddriq Leonardo (speed climber) will be among 1,000 athletes, coaches, and team officials participating in the event.

The tournament kicks off with a triathlon on 3 November, 3×3 basketball from 7 to 9 November, beach soccer from 13 to 16 November and mountain biking from 18 to 22 November. A new addition to this year’s NEOM Beach Games is the World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cup NEOM. The event will bring together the world’s top open-water swimmers and serve as the grand finale of the NEOM Beach Games, taking place in the Red Sea.

Jan Paterson, Managing Director of Sport at NEOM, said: “It is hugely exciting to be hosting the NEOM Beach Games for its third edition, including welcoming a number of athletes and medalists from the recent Paris 2024 Olympic Games. With the addition of the World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cup NEOM and two compact venues at NEOM Bay and Bajdah Desert, we are looking forward to offering an exciting experience for athletes and spectators alike and helping to establish NEOM as a destination for global sports amongst our natural sporting landscapes.”

Neom is part of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince’s Saudi Vision 2030. Neom aims to redefine urban living. Plans for The Line in Neom were recently announced, which includes a 170km-long residential complex with zero cars, zero roads and zero carbon emissions. When completed, the area will be home to million residents across 34 square kilometres.

Saudi is filled with major sporting events this autumn. If you’re a fan of sports, don’t miss tennis legends at 6 Kings Slam, the Latino Night boxing event, and the debut of Power Slap in the Kingdom.

Let the games begin.
