JR De Guzman brings a night of musical comedy to Dubai Opera

This will mark the comic’s first performance in the city

Dubai’s comedy scene has been on fire. With the likes of Jimmy Carr, Kevin Hart, Russell Peters, and Trevor Noah having recently performed in the city. Now, JR De Guzman is gearing up to make his Dubai debut.

Taking place on Monday, 28 October at Dubai Opera, JR De Guzman in Dubai promises a night of uncontrollable laughter. Expect storytelling, comedy, and music all wrapped up in one package. With his guitar in hand, JR De Guzman will transition between jokes and songs, creating a performance that’s guaranteed to be full-on entertaining.

For those unfamiliar with JR De Guzman, he is a Filipino-American comedian who has been making waves across the globe with his unique comedy style. He explores themes of cultural identity, relationships and life, in general. 

JR De Guzman began his career as a music teacher but then ventured into performing sets. He shot to fame with his Netflix special The Comedy Lineup, after which he landed gigs such as Comedy Central’s Kevin Hart Presents Hart of the City. He also won the Stand-up NBC in 2016 and was featured in Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch in 2022, cementing his position in the world of comedy.

Apart from Jr De Guzman, other performers at Dubai Opera this season include Dame Joanna Lunmley, Paul Chowdhry, and Nigel Ng. Elsewhere, Ardal O’Hanlon will take to the stage at the QE2 Theatre on 19 October, Romesh Ranganathan will perform at Coca-Cola Arena on 25 October and Matt Rife is bringing his ProbleMATTic World Tour to Etihad Arena on 27 October.
