Critically-acclaimed Chef Björn Frantzén arrives at Atlantis, The Palm this October

The chef behind two of the world’s three Michelin-starred restaurants is coming to Dubai.

Atlantis, The Palm is an iconic dining destination, and that’s set to continue as it welcomes one of the world’s most acclaimed chefs, Björn Frantzén. Björn is bringing two new restaurants to Dubai’s mega-resort and they are scheduled to open in winter 2024. Björn’s new dining concepts include the relaxed Nordic restaurant, Studio Frantzén, and the fine dining Nordic restaurant, Frantzén Dubai. Björn is already well-known for his restaurants across the world, which include Frantzén in Stockholm and Zén in Singapore.

Frantzén has three Michelin Stars and ranks at number 35 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, while Zén has three Michelin Stars. Former professional footballer turned chef, Björn Frantzén shared the news of an impending October opening for the Dubai restaurants on his Instagram account: “Great tasting in Dubai last month for @restaurantfzn and @studiofrantzendubai opening end of October @atlantisthepalm

Studio Frantzén at Atlantis, The Palm takes over the space previously occupied by Nobu on the ground floor of The Avenues and will serve Nordic cuisine with Asian influences, and cocktails with Nordic ingredients. Dishes on the menu will likely range from porterhouse steak to blistered lobster with curry hollandaise, pomegranate-infused mirin, dried cloudberries, ginger and coriander butter. You can read our review of Studio Frantzén in London here.

The Scandinavian designed venue is set to include a lively bar, intimate booths and a kitchen counter with front-row seats to the action. Overall, the space will seat 220 people, and boast private dining areas.

Frantzén Dubai at Atlantis, The Palm is influenced by Japanese kaiseki sensibilities and French techniques. Dishes range from Crudo of scallop with salted Tokyo turnip to king crab grilled over birch embers with hot sauce. Plus, there will be an extensive selection of wine and Grand Cru’s – we’re talking more than 1,500 labels. Frantzén aims to feel like an intimate living room, and it will boast a rooftop orangery as well as views of the Dubai skyline. The restaurant will feel like an exclusive experience, as it can only accommodate 25 people.

Frantzén Dubai

Björn Frantzén explains: “Following the arrival of MICHELIN into Dubai, I cannot think of a better time to introduce our concepts to the region. We are both proud and excited to bring our gastronomy to the ever-evolving food scene of Dubai, and there is no better place for us to showcase our immersive dining experience than the culinary destination, Atlantis Dubai”.

Atlantis, The Palm is already home to three Michelin-starred restaurants. The winners include Dinner by Heston Blumenthal’s Medieval British menu, Hakkasan’s traditional Cantonese dishes with a modern twist, and Ossiano’s seafood menu inspired by the ocean, which is served by a floor-to-ceiling aquarium.

Given Björn’s already successful career, his new restaurants are bound to get Michelin’s attention.
