Formula E returns to Saudi Arabia with new circuit

The race will take place in Diriyah for two days.

The Fast and the Furious franchise has raised a generation of petrolheads in Saudi Arabia, so it is no surprise that the Kingdom loves its motorsports. The Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah has secured a place in the hearts of Saudi residents and now, Formula E is gearing up for a much-awaited return.

Formula E has announced the calendar for Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, and Diriyah on the outskirts of Riyadh is on the list. Taking place on 14 and 15 February 2025, this marks the race’s seventh instalment of the Diriyah E-Prix in the Kingdom, promising two days packed with high-octane action.

Formula E is embarking on its most extensive season yet, featuring a 17-race calendar spanning 11 venues worldwide. The championship will kick off on 7 December in Sao Paulo, followed by Mexico City, before making its way to a new circuit in Diriyah. Following the Kingdom’s stint, the tournament will move to Miami, Monaco, Tokyo, Jakarta, and Berlin, finishing the season in London.

What makes this season even more electrifying is the debut of the GEN3 EVO race car, capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 1.82 seconds – a staggering 36 per cent faster than its predecessor.

The world’s first all-electric FIA World Championship, Formula E stands at the forefront of sustainable innovation. So buckle up and prepare for an electrifying season in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
